Morning blog (朝のブログ)

(this was originally started at 7:30 in the morning, but then Chrome crashed suddenly. Boo Chrome.)

It's sort of weird to be up so early in the morning. But it's probably better than not.

I had a brief stint of this a month or two ago, and I thought "hey, maybe the insomnia finally broke", but I slipped into old habits again. I've been getting up earlier again this month, but it's combined with the annoying habit of falling asleep really early, and waking up at 4:30 or 5 in the morning. It's a nice, quiet time, but I can't do too much without waking the house up.

I have done a couple of things to get my mind off of the brain-numbing monotony that has become daily life. I tried my hand at chain mail again, just using some cheap jump rings from Joann. Here's my Queen's Chain bracelet. It's not the highest quality, but it's good enough for me to wear and and not snag on my arm hair.

I had made a byzantine chain too, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I wonder if some yahoo that was touring the house took it. Eh, who the hell knows.

Last month I got this book: The Beaded Edge , but haven't had much time to enjoy it. It's got really pretty beaded crochet in it, and I tried one of the patterns. I think this on is called Soap Bubbles:

My phone camera wasn't focusing that well when I took the picture, but I think you get the idea. I'd really like to find a shirt or something to spruce up with something like this. I made a plain scarf on my knitting machine (I forgot to release the punchcard, d'oh!) that could use some sort of edge to weight it down and keep it from constantly curling up on itself. Having to shove all my stuff in a box every time we get a visitor though made me forget about it until just now. Definitely not the diligent crafter I used to be. Not that I want it to slip away. I've invest too much in the hobby! Just not in the right frame of mind, I guess. I haven't visited an LYS in ages. That usually gets me in the mood for something. I'm kind of glad this jewelry bug bit me when it did. It does feel nice to do stuff with your hands.

I have to go do something productive-ish now. What that will be who knows. Hopefully it won't be yard work.
