Je suis en l'enfer.

That's French for "I'm in hell", people. At least if memory serves. I've been trying to forget my French classes for years.

Tuesday night, I went to bed, and the computer was fine. I woke up on Wednesday, and my task bar was gone. I restarted, and the same thing happened, nothing but wall paper, and I couldn't get to anything through a keyboard shortcut.

I boot the computer into Safe Mode, somehow, and whatever I was doing in there didn't seem to help, so I backed up whatever I I wanted to keep on the hard drive to my external hard drive (I'm so glad I bought that now) and decided to erase it all and start over.

Windows finally came up again, with no sound, really bad video (like 16 colors or some nonsense) and NO INTERNET! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

I took my test on my mom's laptop (before it went kaput too, which it did) and spent the rest of the night with a headache over my eye, trying to get things back to normal.

Today, I finally got the laptop back online (she was getting virus warnings out the ass; I thought I put an AV scanner on her PC, but maybe not. The thing is old and needs to go away....) and called the place I got my computer from to find out where to get the drivers I needed so I could use this infernal machine again. They helped me figure out what model my motherboard was, and I got the drivers, put everything on a flash card and installed like crazy.

I restarted and crossed my fingers, and now....the computer is usable again.

I fucking HATE it when Windows just decides to not come to work. It hasn't happened in a long time, but that took way longer than it should have to correct. Not to mention the whole "Microsoft thinks you're stealing an OS it doesn't support anymore" situation I went through as the last trial before stepping back into computer Paradise.

I've still got homework to finish, and videos to watch (I just watched one before Windows quit the other night). and updates to download....I lost a whole day messing with this stupid thing.

Maybe I will try to ask for a new computer for my birthday....maybe. Or find someone selling them out of the back of a van and get it myself.

I'm shutting this thing down and not looking at it for a while coughthatsaliecoughcough

I am walking away.....

We've been having a lot of viruses on our computers lately, so I feel you pain. It's really awful and such a time sucker trying to get everything in order again. Good luck!
